From Manhattan to Madrid, And Then Into The World Of Facebook Ads

My name is Italia and I’m a marketing copywriter specializing in Facebook Ad Copy. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NYC, I got my start at a boutique ad agency in Midtown Manhattan writing emails, social media, & blogs. Fast forward to today, I’ve traded in my 9-5 for the world of freelance writing—and I fell in love with Facebook Ads.Being a copywriter in the Facebook Ads space has given me so many opportunities. Not only do I get to work with inspiring women running their own online agencies (and making a killing), I get to do it all on my own terms.  I can work from home and be with my family or work while travelling. In January of 2019, I went to Amsterdam for 3 weeks and was still able to serve my clients on my own schedule while immersing myself in a brand new country. And speaking of travel, the best career decision I ever made was quitting my job at the boutique ad agency I worked at and going to Madrid for 3 months. I had never been to Spain before or spent that much time away from home. I was 23 years old. It was during this trip I realized that I wanted to keep copywriting because it was something I enjoyed, but I didn’t want to do it trapped between the four walls of an office. So I made plans to begin freelancing the moment I returned to New York. Here’s the magical part: Just one day before my return flight, my former boss at the agency texted me and asked if I would be willing to return...
Career Changer Story – Property Manager to a Personal Trainer

Career Changer Story – Property Manager to a Personal Trainer

It’s a bit of a laugh really & my current destination & my journey were never ever in my loose plan but shows the universe always has a plan. I was working in administration in Melbourne when my personal life changed dramatically. And the change saw me take a huge leap of faith & move to a mining town in Qld, 2 hours west of Mackay. I started work at the local pub, doing drive through & loved it. Then moved on to the local bank as a teller. Then I was offered a role as a Safety Administrator. This job saw me go into the gas industry within the mining sector & learn so much. I loved Safety. Completed a Certificate in Safety Administration. 13 months later I was let go & was back to job-hopping briefly. Then my sister in law called me, she was working in recruitment & asked me if I wanted to work in Real Estate. I said no, I had zero interest in working in Sales, I had a failed business behind me to prove that! (That’s a whole different story). But she explained it was working in Property Management. Managing rental properties. I thought why not! Interviewed on Friday & started Monday! Worked in that industry in that town for 2.5 years & saw a lot of change when the first rental boom hit. During this time, I wanted to get fit, so I decided to study my Certificate III Fitness. Turns out that I learned HOW to get fit but didn’t get fit. So the following year I continued my study...
Man who was homeless for 20 years turns life around to be voted London’s happiest bus driver!

Man who was homeless for 20 years turns life around to be voted London’s happiest bus driver!

A man who spent 20 years sleeping rough has been voted London’s happiest bus driver. Patrick Lawson, 50, of Finsbury Park, received 45 commendations from passengers to win the Hello London Award for outstanding customer service at Transport for London’s annual London Bus Awards. He motivates himself by looking in the mirror each day with the mantra “I am happy”, greets people with a smile as they board his route 26 bus, and enjoys assisting disabled passengers. Originally from Hackney, Mr Lawson became homeless after spells in prison as a teenager and just four years ago was sleeping on benches and selling the Big Issue in the King’s Cross area. He ended up in hospital where he was referred to the Islington-based Single Homeless Project and transport social enterprise the HCT Group, which helped him train as a bus driver. Mr Lawson said: “I got into trouble as a teenager and went down the wrong path — I got involved in crime. When I came out of prison I got involved in drugs and things progressively got worse. “I never believed charities would work but now I’m an advocate for their services. I want other ex-cons and homeless people to know that if they apply themselves and they have a plan, even a small one, they can achieve it.” He added: “My favourite part [of being a bus driver] is going out there and just meeting passengers. I want to greet every single person when they come on the bus and when they leave, and I have done that from day one with a big smile. Some passengers look at me...
Career Changer Story – A Career Change Planning Is Only As Good As Your Execution

Career Changer Story – A Career Change Planning Is Only As Good As Your Execution

I was raised on a farm so as a child I was only ever going to be a farmer first career. Since leaving the farm at 13 years of age I have struggled to find purpose and passion with anything I have worked at, that is 40 plus years searching, so what is a career is it time in one job, I spent 12 years working on the railway at the same time I was in the army reserves 10 years during this time I was a partner in small business 13 years all up beauty therapist, hairdresser, Cafe bakery. Elected to local government (while on the railway and army reserves and small business ) councillor for 17 years, I received a state award for my groundbreaking work in the industry development of aquaculture in NSW over 4 years, worked night shift petrol station 5 years, 8 years with foresty industry my own business, could have made more money with a chainsaw and a wheelbarrow than I did with a five-man crew and 300 thousand worth of equipment. A few years paying the bank debt on equipment you do not have while that may not be a career it is a consequence of career change with planning or was it no planning, nobody plans to fail but career change planning is only as good as your execution of that plan or career change so poor execution will get poor outcome. Six years labor Hire working heavy industry shut work and heavy maintenance, would not call it a career but pays bills but it can pigeon hole your life to emotional...
Career Changer Story – I had found something where I could use my creativity

Career Changer Story – I had found something where I could use my creativity

“For many years I spent a lot of my free time painting and writing and the cards were a great thing to discover about myself, far away from home and few years after I moved to England and became a mum. When our two daughters started to go to school and nursery I was looking for a way to put some creativity back into my daily life. 3 years ago I wanted to give thank you cards to the team at my daughter’s nursery and realised that I didn’t have enough cards. I needed it for the next morning, so my daughter and I sat down and started painting, cutting, gluing and… making cards. The timing was just right for me to feel more independent, so then came to the idea to make and sell greetings cards, with a personal touch, that cannot be found in the regular shops. I felt like a chef that knows intuitively what to do with a set of ingredients, and I was so excited that I had found something where I could use my creativity to make a product that people would want to buy. And so it started. Having been successful locally, I felt that it was the right time to open an online shop to sell my products, all over the world. I’m doing what I love to do. “ Ori Fyne – UK Fyne Hand-Made Cards LME – “Empowering anyone to own their career...
